the
cut*off members, Chad, Kyle, Jake and Jayson, grew
up in a North Texas town between Dallas and Fort Worth.
It was not until high school that the four members
met and became friends. These individuals slightly
touched their music side during high school, but there
was promise from these few encounters. College split
the four into separate cities, but their friendship
enabled them to stay in contact with each other. After
a couple of years in college that included school
transfers, Chad, Kyle and Jake reunited at the University
of North Texas and started a band in early 2000. Lots
of practices and only a few performances ended that
band’s run. A few months without music proved
to be too difficult for the three. By December 2001,the
three began talking about getting another band together.
This time they decided a second guitarist was needed
for a fuller sound. After auditioning a few musicians,
long-time friend, Jayson was added. Rapidly, the band’s
sound matured. They began creating music which has
hints of their influences from the Pixies, the Toadies,
Built to Spill and others. Recently, the cut*off released
its first full length album, which has caught the
ears of local journalists and music critics. |
