pleasantry lane studios

jake: its about 5:00 and today is our first day with salim nourallah at pleasantry lane studios, and so far thing everything is going according to plan. today is not planned to be a heavy tracking day, but we are going to get a little bit done today. none the less we are pleased to be here, and we will let you guys know all the happening as they come our way, and your way...because without you we are nothing. we would just like to that god for all of our good fortune. big up to trash eggs.
chad: As Jim and his hern just told you, today is our first glorious day with our new best friend Salim. He told us to call him "hot pants" but I'm more comfortable with Salim. We're trying to figure out who is playing what instrument and through which amp. I'm going to play a sweet bass through a kick-ass amp. Jake keeps itching himself and it's making me think I might catch his syndrome. Anyway, I'm not recording anything today.
jayson: our first day in the recording studio in over a year. I have some butterflies in my basket but, pleasantry lane has home sweet home feel to it. I will be playing through a fender twin reverb and using a gibson sg and maybe a gretsch

jake: today is the long day and there is quite a bit on my plate. all the drum tracks will be recorded today along with most of the vocals and guitars. its now 10:28 and and this is by far the most fun i've ever had in my life long journey to be a part of a ground breaking EP. pleasantry lane studios sure are "pleasant". we' ve now quenched our hunger with mex. food from Baja (pronounced BA-HA) Fresh, and we are back on track towards our ultimate goal............GRAMMY BABY!!! HA HA!!!!! let the recording proceed. peace in the middle east...or chaos who cares.
chad: Man, I'm glad jake pulled his head out and finished his drums. Unfortunately, he used a drum machine, so every drum you hear on this EP is electronic. As usual, I finished my bass tracks in record time. I credit that mostly to my influences (Flea and the dude from Alter Bridge). But seriously, Salim hooked me up with a bass pedal that sounds really cool and actually cost almost as much as my POS brand amp. Anywho, I'm done.....so like O'Doyle, I freaking rule.
jayson: The ambience of this studio is very relaxing and that has transferred in to a pretty cool feel for our e.p.. We belted out some good takes pretty quick. The two-a-days and the all cabbage diet that we endured the past few weeks are really coming in handy now. handy, ha ha.

jake: its 8:47 and kyle is on the verge of tackling the organ track in the basement theory, and if he can get his phalanges lubed and tuned we will be on our way like a monologue made for the seven seas. perhaps I'll lube and tune him. salim has a neat hat on today and i want to ask him where he got it, but he seems mucho focused at the moment and i don't want to ruin the attempt at gold plated diapers. this i can say...you are all in for a special treat, and by special treat i mean a little something different out of the cut*off encyclopedia level A - "rock". stay tuned...them stairs sure are steep.
chad: Ahhhhh hell....handful of jalepenos. Kyle's been tossing some vocals through the bullet mic like it's a salad full of jelly. As for me, I'm just listening in until they're ready for me to take over for kyle. Jayson went to the Celine Dion concert tonight at the Bass Hall so we're still waiting for him to get here. Salim just informed me that the organ in Basement Theory is lurking like kyle at a middle school playground. That's pretty cool I guess. I just noticed that Salim has a T-Rex CD. Bang a gong. Finally, we can share everything. Well, it's been real. I'm gellin like Magellan.

jake: another day, another dollar...spent! ha ha. back at pleasantry and boy are we having a good time. the drums are down, and jay-ham just finished his solo at the end, so we just have bass, vocals, ky's guitar and percussion. also i'm letting my hair grow out for audition for "hair spray" the musical off broadway. there's just something about Salim's studio that brings out the best in everyone. we are going to eat pizza later, and Salim said i can have an extra piece. once this is done our EP will be ready for selling, and by george you will all want about 4 copies for your grandparents or just for decorative coasters on your wood top tables...who knows. kitty cats and puppy dogs, good collaboration between the gears and cogs. later gator.
chad: well the road to create a kick ass record is hard but it's the only road I know. So far we've laid down the drum tracks and we're working on the guitars. Salim says Jayson must have forgotten his laser watch because his timing is slightly off. We just heard some of Kyle's scratch vocals and he sounds crazier than a shithouse rat. Salim just performed surgery on the song using only a rusty butter knife. It seems to be working out and it's starting to sound good. I guess that's why they call him Salim the dream. Anyway I'm a bit nervous about recording my final bass track. On my first take Salim said he didn't like my bass tone but I'm not sure I appreciate his tone. The bitter taste of chicken salad sure reminds me of a cut*off ballad.
jayson: i've been looking forward to this day for awhile. Pleasantry Lane sure is booking up quickly these days. Salim was nominated as best producer in the Dallas Observer Music Awards and the Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards. I can see why. He does good work. We will be doing one more song to complete our e.p. So far it is sounding good. I just finished up my guitar parts. I played through a fender princeton reverb amp and used my sg. My timing was a little rough to start off but, after repeating my mantra "serenity now" for five minutes I was able to collect myself and knock out the parts. Now comes the time for us to decide if kyle or I should sing on this song. Speaking of kyle he is recording his acoustic track and it is coming along nicely. We are listening to it right now. I will report more later.

It's almost 7 pm and we just ate some piggie pie's pizza, watched Salim's new music video of "The World is Full of People Who want to Hurt You" and are now back to work on chad's bass part. Salim's new video is great, I can see a MTV music award in his future. Well, I better get back to work because kyle and I are about to play a hand of texas hold'em poker to see who sings lead vocal and who is left to sing the doo-wops. i'll build her a cake your sumsing.
